Just missing some birthday cake.. |
So this month its the Italian luxury brand's 100th birthday (hooray!). As well as partying hard they're exhibiting past designs at Spazio Fornasetti, Milan, where visitors can vote for their favourite set- with the winner being reintroduced back into production.
Celebrating a centenary is probably very exciting however I'm more interested with the actual designs, especially these more classical looking ones. The set of 6 above are of a more common geometric style but I was having a closer look and they seem to be depicting Romanesque looking buildings- I can see windows and arches and mosaicked (is that the word?) floors. I might be looking at them totally wrong and getting carried away with myself, I have no idea. If you actually know what is happening on them can you please tell me?

Lord of the Flies. But pretty. |
I have picked out this design as well, I love the drawing style portrayed. The subject matter is pretty intriguing too- who is that lady? Also it's very refreshing to see a vessel form where the design isn't informed (or restrained) in anyway by it's shape.
2. John Kenn Mortensen's Post-it Note Pictures.

Tiny monster party. |

Hello, down there. |
John Kenn draws monsters who are often watching children or controlling something within the child's environment, for example the monster above who is pushing the toy boat along- he's like a wind monster. There isn't really a lot I have to say about these other then that you should all go and look at them now.
3. Tiny Crocheted Birds.
So the other day I was aimlessly googling for images of parakeets- an almost daily occurrence for me- and what should come up but tiny crocheted (I think) birds. Ahh!! I tried to translate their website to find out some information about the maker/seller but there wasn't anything on the page and there was no way of navigating to somewhere else.
As you may know I am always excited to incorporate the jungle and it's winged inhabitants into my work and when I see these I feel like a giddy child- think of all the possibilities!
This is the original web page.
