OKAY Studio

Researching for this project was so much fun. There was so many interesting things to see and to learn about. Instead of looking at things like 3D printed objects I quite quickly I focused in on lower-tech things, such as how new digital technologies can be used to create interesting lighting.

Almost all of this research was focused around the members of OKAY Studio.

Ed Swan
Marmoreus Light: Using low-tech optical principles to create lighting effects that are both subtle and dramatic. The patterns change with a turn of a tab.

Obscura View: Created for the "Living Space" exhibition during Milan Furniture Fair 2005. Fifty lenses are embedded into a rotating screen, they project inverted images of the environment they're facing onto an interior acrylic surface. Altogether it creates a kaleidoscopic effect.

Jordi Canudas
Less Lamp: A sealed lamp shade that the used must break open in order to release the light trapped inside.

La Estirada: A series of experiments which try to capture light travelling through space.
