Vitrics

Over the last few months we have had the chance to participate in a project to develop ideas for Vitrics- a company who internally etch glass and acrylic.

We were asked to design a small range of candle stick holders. Whilst there was some factors to take into consideration (for example weight, size and some technical things to do with lasers!) it has been extremely open and a good opportunity to design something with a specific audience in mind.

I've been guessing a lot with the CAD for these designs but over all I'm pleased with what I ended up being able to create.

Previous designs by Christopher Pearson.

Tessellate

A series of irregular hexagons folded around a tea light, dispersing the light from the flame to create an ambient glow. They can be arranged singularly or in groups as their hexagonal shape allows them to tessellate and the arrangement to grow.

Inspired by the Weaire-Phelan structure, a complex three dimensional formation which represents an idealized foam of equal sized bubbles. Discovered in 1993, it is the current best solution to the Kelvin Problem; the quest to find the most efficient bubble structure.

Patterns shown without solid shape.
