I have been doing a lot of research into waking thought processes and how they're visually represented in order to gain a better understanding of how I can permanently capture more abstract things. The interpretation of random things we see in everyday life- kind of like picking out shapes in clouds- has always interested me as it easy to relate too but entirely personal at the same time.
Created in 1921, the Rorschach Test uses ink blots to examine a person's personality characteristics. It can also be used to detect thought disorders and emotional instability. The results are very much down to the interpretation of the person conducting the test so these days it is not considered valid.

I made a selection of ink blots and then selected the best ones. 'Best' meaning that they were detailed enough to be interesting but not so detailed that they would be difficult to translate into CAD drawings. I also kept mine monochrome (some of the original ink blots included pink, blue and orange ink) as this creates a high contrast image- another good thing when considering transferring them into CAD.
I really like the imagery created here but I feel as though it would be far too much of an obvious choice to be CNC milled/laser etched as it is now. I may or may not be coming back to this later!
